Day 9 - Healing MeditationOur thoughts and emotions affect how our bodies function. When we see, smell, or think of food, we salivate. When we’re afraid, our breathing changes and the muscles tense. It’s not such a stretch to realize that what we think and feel also has an effect on our immune responses. Stress is known to impair the body’s natural abilities to fight off disease. Therefore, one of the most direct routes to health is to reduce our stress levels with meditation, along with relaxation exercises, the right foods, and enough sleep. But we can also meditate directly on certain symptoms and call up the healing powers of the body. By using visualization, you can help your body’s immune response. It’s been proven. Remember, if sadness can bring tears, realize that the immune system operates in much the same way. It responds when it’s needed. With this healing meditation, rest and relax into the natural healing power of the body.
