Day 7 – Stopping the War Within

Day 7 - Stopping the War WithinWe are at war with ourselves. Inner conflicts cause dysfunction, and the sources of those conflicts can be quite varied. Perhaps we’re simply judging ourselves or others too harshly, or perhaps, feelings of guilt exist within us. All of us carry suppressed grief to some extent. For some of us, we were not taught as children to freely show our feelings, to be demonstrative in the ways that we express ourselves. We can be blocked or inhibited a number of different ways. Addressing these inner conflicts, and showing compassion and love toward ourselves, goes far in the direction of learning to feel compassion for those around us. Before we can feel a sense of unity with others, we must first learn to stop the war within.

“When we understand, we are at the center of the circle, and there we sit while Yes and No chase each other around the circumference.” ~Chuang-tzu
