Day 6 – Vipassana, Insight Meditation
Vipassana means “to see things as they really are”. It is a process of mental purification through self-observation. This is one of the oldest, simplest, and most widely used meditation techniques. Although it’s part of the Buddha’s teachings, again, there is nothing inherently religious about it. It is practiced world-wide by people of various religious and spiritual backgrounds.
The Buddha taught many practices that used the functions of the body as points of focus. This meditation is focused on the breath, something we always do, something we can always tap into, and use to our benefit.
“Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?” ~Tao Te Ching
