Day 28 – Shikantaza
Unlike the other meditation techniques that we use, the Zen method known as Shikantaza, or “just sitting”, is done with no object of attention, no focal point. It has been referred to as the meditator’s meditation. It can be difficult and disturbing for some people, and begs the question, “What am I supposed to do?” The answer is just sit. Explore this ancient Zen technique.
“If your practice is good, you may become proud of it. What you do is good, but something more is added to it. Pride is extra. Right effort is to get rid of something extra.” ~Shunryu Suzuki
