Day 23 – Meditation on Change

Day 23 - Meditation on ChangeEverything is in a state of transition. Some of the changes around us are difficult for us to see and acknowledge due to our limited abilities to perceive, and our short time frames. Rocks seem to change very little, but, in time, they will become soil and sand. On the other hand, we are quite tuned in to the fact that pleasures fade much too quickly for our tastes. Emotional pains will do the same thing, if we let them, but we tend to hold on to them far too long. It’s all relative. More often than not, the permanence we give to grief, or sadness, or anger, or anxiety is caused by our rigid beliefs. If a belief about the world around us has worked in the past, but no longer serves us, we oftentimes hang on to it, even if it’s not based on reality or clear logic. It’s even worse when it comes to beliefs about ourselves. They can be the hardest to change.  This meditation is about being at ease with the changes of our ever-evolving universe.

“You better start swimmin’, or you’ll sink like a stone, for the times they are a-changin’.” ~Bob Dylan
